Ouch

A pretty scathing editorial about principals and superintindents showed up in this past Monday's USA Today. Citing a report out of Columbia University's Teacher's College, the editorial raised some serious questions about the advanced degrees that are out there in education. I hope it is overstating the point.

Interesting article but yikes, I know a few who'd be offended by its content.
As she's paying off incredible school loans, I'm sure my daughter would cringe at the "belittling" of the many hours she spent getting her Masters of Education degree.
Additionally, unless you're studying at a technical school where your professors have been out in the workforce, quite often those instructing you "how to perform" have never "worked" the kinds of jobs they're teaching.

I might be wrong but I think that the editorial was probably aimed more at those "mail order" or other weak degrees offered at hundreds of schools rather than a Master's from one of the top 20 graduate schools of education in the country, like the one from which your daughter got hers.
